Scared for my wife

Posted in Group:

My wife went in for her first mammogram and they found something. We have to wait a little over two weeks for the biopsy and god knows how long for the results. We aren't really telling anyone other than her mom and dad, as to not only cut back on people worrying but to avoid people constantly reminding her. She is freaked out, especially since we have our first child. He is only 10 months old and she is scared of leaving him without a mom. I am trying my best to be strong and get her mind off it ,but I am worse each day that goes by. She is my entire life. Her and my boy. I don't know much about this and everything I look up online scares the hell outta me. I'm not even sure why I came to this site, I never do anything online, but I am so freaking scared of losing my wife-I don't know what to do

Ok-deep breath! You are making me panic just reading this, you have to slow down. Catching and treating this early, if it is the Big C, is a good thing. Stop looking this up on the web, it will just give you a heart attack, because I can just feel your stress through this post. You have to be the rock for your wife on this one and you can't if you are going to immediately panic. Ok, so she has the biopsy in 2 weeks, ask her doctors exactly when you will have the results-be an advocate, start looking into oncologists in your area just in case, this is being prepared-nothing more. At the very least she may have to have regular checks even if this turns out to be nothing.

Understand that waiting for the breast biopsy results can be an unnerving experience. You may find yourself fearing the worst - a positive, or breast cancer diagnosis. However, it is important to remember that 80% of all breast biopsies do not turn out to be breast cancer. (breastbiopsy.com)

Take this one day at a time, be brave and please let me know if I can offer support-feel free to message me anytime.

Hugs-
CK

2 weeks is long a long time to have to feel the fear you are clearly expressing. It will drain needed energy. Your wife needs you now. Finding a mass in breasts is very scary and common. Many times the masses are breast fibroids. You have to quickly learn to pace yourself. Save your energy now and know if the biopsy results in cancer you will need to have all your strength. Prayers for your wife and you
